-- Dr. Seuss, Oh , The Places You'll Go!
The words have been counted. The edits are being made. The last words have been typed. It’s official. If It Kills Me: Book Two of the Guardian Chronicles is done. It wasn't easy. It took several bottles of ibuprofen and more sleepless nights than I care to admit. But before I go any further, before I forget to blog for another month, I just want to say thank you to everyone who has helped me with this process, to my friends and family for understanding when I needed to spend my time writing, and to anyone who has read Be The Death of Me and has supported me along the way.
I’m happy, there’s no doubt about that. But there’s also a sense of melancholy. This story is over. The tale was told to the best of my ability, and like it or not, it’s a done. Don’t get me wrong. There’s plenty more to come, but more than a few characters reached their end in this book. I have introduced new (and hopefully likable) characters leading into book 3, but there’s nothing quite as sad as saying goodbye to your favorites. And that’s what I’ve done.
I won’t give anything away, but I will say this. I am completely satisfied with the story told in this sequel. I will never be the type of writer who wraps up a story with a perfect, shiny bow. It’s not who I am. My stories will always reflect real life, even when doused in the paranormal. And life, to me, is a mixture of heartbreak and happiness. So for those looking for laughter, I hope you find it. For those wanting closure, I have tried to give it to you. For anyone searching for a new faces, new stories, and a new start, I promise there is more on the way.
